MEMORIES

Let me begin by thanking technology which brings back pleasant memories, helps to share thoughts by way of blogs, that which can reach out to many people. In the bygone years only famous writers had this previlege. Now,any blogger has the freedom to write,to share one's thoughts.

A friend of mine had shared on whatsapp, the audio clipping of a song written by a famous writer about the bygone days. The voice was beautiful and more so the lyrics .That writer's pen took me back to my childhood days when I spent my holidays at my grandfather's place,my ancestral home, where I was born,my visits to the village temple,my visits to my grandfather's bosom pal 's house, who was a famous writer and a  Gyan Peeth awardee.I am lucky to have such pleasant memories of my well spent and good childhood. Maybe I had not realised it then but now, when technology brings back such lovely memories,it brings a smile on my lips,a tear or two of happiness in my eyes and a sense of gratitude. On my random visit to my village, when I  stood on the land of my ancestors,I re-lived those moments and relished them. Here is one pic of my village temple,Mahalingeshwar Temple. The entrance to the temple has a beautifully carved brass sthamba,a wide entrance that welcomes every devotee with open arms.

Also sharing here below are pics of my ancestral home which has a barren look now.

The tulsikatte now bereft of the holy tulsi plant👇

My grandfather's ancestral home which has now been sold,  looked different then, when it was inhabited by my pious grandparents.A home which was an epitome of love and service to humanity, where every beggar was given alms, every member of the family, every guest was treated with so much of love and respect,a home which taught charity, patience, pure love, selflessness.A home which celebrated all festivals and all occasions with great fervour.Above all it was a dwelling of satisfaction and contentment, where every member lived peacefully.

The memory of everyday ritual of watering the tulsi plant, lighting a diya, doing a small pooja in front of it by my grandmother, gushed back to my mind.I was saddened to see the Tulsikatte bereft of the holy tulsi plant.

Here below are pics of the levelled land after slashing all the fruit trees, after uprooting all the flowering plants to be able to give way to a modern structure.

The look of the place has totally changed.Nowadays,no one thinks of preserving the ancient look to some extent atleast.Man does not spare any trees, does not spare a natural landscape. He sets about replacing the sentiments with money and wealth.Trees are felled mercilessly, land levelled and modern houses built.

Below are pics of the pride of not only our village,Puttur, but that of the entire country..The abode of Gyan Peeth awardee Shri Kota Shivaram Karanth's 'Balvana'.The first two pics below are that of the main house which was getting a face lift during my last visit to that place.

This is a temple of an artist,a writer,a thinker,a dancer and above all a wonderful human being.Love for infants must have compelled him to name his abode "BALVAN".This is the place where the Gyan Peeth awardee had meditated upon every thought which he had later concised into his books in the form of stories.Once I had an opportunity to travel with him to my village. It was amazing to see  how eagerly he took in all the details of the nature around him as we were travelling through the vast expanse of cultivated land, and the ghat section. He intently noticed  various birds  perched on trees or the ones that flew past us. The village and town activities as we passed by several villages and towns on our way to our village did not go unnoticed. All along he was drawing my attention to the details he was noticing. This is how the writers get their thoughts for their writings I think. His study room cum a studio had a beautiful ambiance. His studio window opened to the view of a nearby hill with plenty of trees. He used to watch varieties of birds from this window.Though I was too young then,I fondly remember many details of my visit to their place.and all these memories have left an unerasable imprint in my album of childhood memories.

It's very important to have good memories, create good memories to be tucked away for future mental viewing in solitude.Life is short.Dont waste it in unnecessary things.

Now,about technology which helps is creating an illusion:

This is a collage of just one painting. It gives scope to create a big wall hanging if printed and framed.Different parts of the painting in each segment of the collage creats this illusion.Isn't technology amazing and interesting?

Just a reminder that every incidence, every aspect in life has a good side and not so good side to it.Live it well.
