Cake walk


 This painting of the cake was posted by me on the 7th of December 2023 in my Instagram handle.

Before this I had not attempted to paint a big cake with glaze effect.Glaze effect makes the painting seem real.Every painting that is done during the journey of  an artist is a learning.Art is a beautiful journey wherein we learn to improvise as we go along.

This painting of a cake reminded me of that idiom,Life is not a cake walk...

Having dealt with umpteen number of problems or issues,I now literally understand the meaning of the idiom.

Set back in health,seeking help, organising,arranging,facing diversities all alone is something new to me.Added to this,adjustments in my day to day living,facing and dealing with loneliness,and the discomfort.... all adds to my life being far from being a cake walk.

Inspite of all this,I have learnt to be grateful.Grateful for the help received,for my financial independence,for the roof above my head,for the lovely people in my life who have pulled me out of my loneliness at times,for all the strength God has given me to face my phase of illhealth.

All said and done life teaches us,evolves us into stronger and better human beings.

We get to know people better,the genuinity or otherwise...after all,these set backs are the best teachers.Life is a school and we are all students,graduating from primary to high school.Later on from the university to holding a doctorate in the subject called life.

Continuing my blog this day,19th of April 2024.Why did it take me so long to complete this blog?....I asked myself.Probably everything will be done at the right time, according to God's will.I realise that nothing is in our hands.....not even the smallest of decisions or activity.We are mere puppets.If we realise this, there will be no blame game,no excuses... just acceptance of the divine intervention.

After a long sabbatical praying to God to let me pursue my interests.....writing and painting.

Leaving this small blog with a positive note.....All is well that ends well.....

Patience unlimited

 I feel that I have developed unlimited patience over the years.Life teaches patience,tolerance and the attitude to ignore many things that are not palatable to us.The reason being,as we see more of life we realise that we can't change people around us, so if we have to deal with people who are a part of our living, we have to put up with lots of unpleasant things or their behavior that may hurt us. A person's behavior tells us more about that person,who ever it be....our own selves or others. I had known a wife who used to be constantly ridiculed by her husband for everything she said or did and that too in front of an audience of friends and the wife would always laugh it off.I used to admire that lady but her husband's behavior would irritate me.I think now I understand why she used to keep quiet and bear everything and smile it off.Their individual behaviours told us more about his personality and her personality.His behavior told us what an ill mannered and foolish  pe...

Is appreciation the end all and be all?

The title I gave this blog is a question!!! I love to analyse every thing that happens in my day to day life.Anything overwhelming or anything that makes me sad. Well something overwhelming happened today. I was most unexpectedly appreciated for a painting that I posted in a watercolor group of which I am a member. At first it was overwhelming and I even responded to it.After responding,my mind started the process of analysis of the whole process.....from how I felt motivated to paint the subject to how I felt after finishing my painting.
